birthdays and miniatures

hello! today i finally got to rest a little. i finished my big big project and i was really quite happy with the result, so i thought i would celebrate with a present to myself. what better present to buy than miniature foods! today i bought a nice little white display case, a bread basket, three bread sticks and some pink cake boxes. i think if i wanted to collect anything, it would have to be miniatures. they're just so damn cute. you have probably already seen my miniature candy jars in my camera post, which is actually very relevant because i'm getting a CAMERA FOR MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW and i'm clearly very happy! instead of the d80, it will be the much nicer d5000, and i am really quite excited. i will also get to wear my best review dress to dinner with my parents, which will be very nice. other than that, i will be spending my day writing about toasters. i can't say it will be the most enjoyable birthday, but there will be plenty of time to celebrate soon enough.

blonde is fine

hello! today and yesterday and the day before i have been very very very busy. they are being really mean to us at university, and i'm worried sick about all the things i need to have done in only a few days time. because of this, i haven't been able to take any pictures of cute things or show you what i've been wearing and it makes me very sad. the only nice thing about all of this is that my birthday is only a bit over a week away! it also happens to be after everything nasty is due, so it should be quite nice. i'll also be receiving a very good camera, if all things go to plan. anyway, here is what i look like as a blonde (and as lady gaga, apparently)! excuse the fuzzy cheeks. it couldn't be helped.

finders keepers

today we were back in brisbane for a birthday dinner. to fill the rest of our day we decided to visit a few nice markets (as there were more running this weekend than usual). first was the valley market, which runs every weekend, and is usually quite nice. we didn't spend too much time there, though.

our next stop was the 'finders keepers' market, which doesn't run very often at all, but happened to be on this weekend. it was set up in a really nice old museum and contained all kinds of crafted goods. we thought it was an awfully good market, and stayed until it was almost over to make sure we saw absolutely everything there was to see.

all of the stalls were very quaint and nice and everyone was so welcoming.

perhaps my favourite thing was a nice traveling photo booth with all kinds of props for people to be in silly photos with, like funny hats and fake lips on masquerade sticks. it was pretty cute, if you ask me. if you'd like you can click on the image for a few examples.

tomorrow, i think, we will visit the 'suitcase rummage'. i've been told it's an awfully nice event in which all kinds of people bring suitcases full of interesting things and sell them to other people who can put them to better use. when i get home i'll have to show you all of the fine things i've been buying!
