and, of course, my beloved nikon d5000. on top of this, i got a beautiful lightbox for my drawing that looks a little like a suitcase, money for a small holiday when i get the chance, a sweet neck scarf, and some other little things. such a nice birthday!

chocolate cake and pink lemonade

for my birthday we went to a japanese resturaunt called sono. it's this damn cool place where you can eat in paper rooms at tables that you have to do a series of very strange manoeuvres to sit at. everyone has to take their shoes off before they enter the room or sit down in the main part of the resturaunt, so you can see rows of shoes all down the aisles. the best part is when very uncomfortable-looking business men shimmy out of their tiny chairs and try and put their shoes back on. i'd say you'd have to be a cute little japanese girl before you can do any part of it gracefully.

anyway, here are a few pictures i took with probably one of the greatest presents i have ever received- my little nikon d5000. i'm head over heels with it, and i can't help but want to take it with my everywhere i go. obviously i'm not a star photographer just yet, but i'm inching my way there like the silly men and their shoes. funnily enough, i couldn't take any pictures until i had actually recieved my presents, which meant that i missed all of the nicest images. i'll leave you to imagine all of the pretty pastel wrapping paper and crazy japanese food.

a speedy birthday summary

hello! here is the world's fastest summary of my birthday yesterday. the day was not-so-good for obvious reasons, but the night was very nice. i finally got my beautiful nikon d5000, and wouldn't stop taking pictures of just about everything. i refused to read the manual, so some of them turned out a bit funny. i'll have to show you very soon! here you can see me and my lovely camera, who i have named lola, my sweet boyfriend carrying a big box of presents home, and of course my beautiful review dress that i finally got a chance to wear. around my neck you can probably make out one of my presents, a pretty heart necklace. i got so many nice things, like little paper dolls and tickets to concerts and neck scarves, that i'll have to dedicate a post to them some time. now i must get back to writing an essay on toasters. have a fine day!

birthdays and miniatures

hello! today i finally got to rest a little. i finished my big big project and i was really quite happy with the result, so i thought i would celebrate with a present to myself. what better present to buy than miniature foods! today i bought a nice little white display case, a bread basket, three bread sticks and some pink cake boxes. i think if i wanted to collect anything, it would have to be miniatures. they're just so damn cute. you have probably already seen my miniature candy jars in my camera post, which is actually very relevant because i'm getting a CAMERA FOR MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW and i'm clearly very happy! instead of the d80, it will be the much nicer d5000, and i am really quite excited. i will also get to wear my best review dress to dinner with my parents, which will be very nice. other than that, i will be spending my day writing about toasters. i can't say it will be the most enjoyable birthday, but there will be plenty of time to celebrate soon enough.
