a treat for my walls

a few weeks ago, i cleaned my room. properly, i mean, rather than in the usual "throw things in the closet and under the bed and you're all done!" kind of way. as a reward, my boyfriend and i decided that it was only fair to buy a nice new poster for my wall. i had been dying over this one on ebay for a few weeks, so we went ahead and bought it. i have no idea what it's a poster for, but it seems to be some kind of french stage play. regardless, i think that it's the nicest poster i have ever seen. the dress hanging next to it is another nice thing that arrived this week. it's a super sweet little vintage dress from the 60's, which i'll have to show you some other time.

a present

my boyfriend usually tries pretty hard not to condone my online shopping habits. i send him pages of links everyday asking his opinion on my new favourite things. a few weeks ago i showed him this pretty transparent apron on etsy, and he loved it so much that he bought it for me himself! it arrived not long ago and happens to be one of the nicest things i have ever seen, especially when i put it on. damn impractical, though.

a speedy birthday summary

hello! here is the world's fastest summary of my birthday yesterday. the day was not-so-good for obvious reasons, but the night was very nice. i finally got my beautiful nikon d5000, and wouldn't stop taking pictures of just about everything. i refused to read the manual, so some of them turned out a bit funny. i'll have to show you very soon! here you can see me and my lovely camera, who i have named lola, my sweet boyfriend carrying a big box of presents home, and of course my beautiful review dress that i finally got a chance to wear. around my neck you can probably make out one of my presents, a pretty heart necklace. i got so many nice things, like little paper dolls and tickets to concerts and neck scarves, that i'll have to dedicate a post to them some time. now i must get back to writing an essay on toasters. have a fine day!

strawberry sundae and bubblegum

yesterday my sweet boyfriend took me to the ekka. for those who don't know, it is a big exhibition-type thing with rides and sideshow games and showbags filled with candy. it's an awful waste of money, and you can never seem to win those huge plush ponies that you're dying over because it's always near impossible to get the ball into the hoop or shoot all of the ducks or pop the right balloons. it also only happens once a year, which is perhaps the big incentive for going. probably the best thing was the strawberry sundaes. they were out of pink icecream, which made us all a bit sad, but it still tasted magical. they always fill them right to the bottom with strawberries, which is a very nice thing to do in my opinion.

i wore my cute new skirt, which is probably nicer than a lot of my skirts combined. my boyfriend has decided that it might just be his new favourite. i also picked up some cute little candies, only because i was dying over the blond wig that came with the showbag. i also bought a little black wig. it's already shedding all over, but it's still damn cute. i will have to show you how it looks some time.

towards the end of the night we made our way to a little auditorium where wolfmother played. i am not their biggest fan, but a free concert seemed like the perfect way to justify the stupidly expensive entrance fee. the main guy had a very cool voice. a little bit like a sheep.

judge slays first blonde dna fan

today i went to university, because that is apparently all that i'm allowed to do these days. i wore my new peter pan collar, which arrived a few days ago. i like it very much even though it's always sliding out of place. i'm not sure about the shirt with it, either. what do you think?

afterwards, to celebrate a mini-presentation that went quite well, my boyfriend and i went on a mini-adventure. we really had no plans, but managed to make it to china town, eat some nachos and buy this amazing little card game at a second-hand store. basically, you get five cards each, and whoever can make the silliest headline wins! we could have played for hours.

i should also mention how nice my sweet friend hanna is for posting such lovely things about me on her blog today. hello to all of hanna's fine followers!

the nicest day

yesterday my boyfriend had planned a nice day trip for us.

this is what a wore, alongside my beloved topshop sailor coat when it got cold, and sometimes a grey scarf. i also had a black bow in my hair which he thought made me look very much like minnie mouse.

the cardigan is so very nice and is from country road. the shorts are american apparel.

first we went to a park and sat under a tree to have a picnic. it was the least healthy assortment of foods i had ever seen, but it was nice all the same. i brought my laptop and we watched the hangover, so that i would be up to speed when we went to the movies a few hours later to see the sequel. it was interesting, to say the least. we were right near the water so we caught a ferry anywhere that we needed to go, which was awfully nice.
i really should have taken some more pictures, but it makes me so sad to have to use my pathetic little point-and-shoot.

brisbane is hosting an event called the 'winter festival' at the moment. it is one of the nicest things brisbane has ever done, in my opinion. in the heart of the city a big outdoor skating rink has been set up for a month along with a whole bunch of other nice festivities. at night, this was where we went. we were awfully bad at skating, but awfully good at eating churros, which you could find within a string of foreign food vendors surrounding the rink. unfortunately, the whole setup lacked a little romance (and crowds are extra scary when you give them skates and put them on ice), but we still managed to have a very very nice time.

isn't it nice that i managed to capture that cute couple in my pictures! i did not realise until i had gotten home and flicked through them all.
