a treat for my walls

a few weeks ago, i cleaned my room. properly, i mean, rather than in the usual "throw things in the closet and under the bed and you're all done!" kind of way. as a reward, my boyfriend and i decided that it was only fair to buy a nice new poster for my wall. i had been dying over this one on ebay for a few weeks, so we went ahead and bought it. i have no idea what it's a poster for, but it seems to be some kind of french stage play. regardless, i think that it's the nicest poster i have ever seen. the dress hanging next to it is another nice thing that arrived this week. it's a super sweet little vintage dress from the 60's, which i'll have to show you some other time.

cherry bomb

as promised, here is the outfit that followed me around the other day. i liked it very very much. an elderly lady at the post office told me that i looked pretty in it, too. it made my day.

the skirt is from asos, the top is actually a very cute dress tucked into my stockings and is from topshop, the belt came with a dress that i bought on ebay, and the stockings are super nice and from a little korean stall.

nice things to pin to myself

this week has been very crazy and long. finally everything is done, so it's time to enjoy a nice week-long holiday. i have some pretty good things planned, too. hopefully my sweet little camera might come along with me from time to time. anyway, this week i got the world's sweetest brooches in the mail. they cost me nearly nothing on ebay, so i was a bit surprised by how nice they were. the little boater hat is particularly beautiful. i honestly can't stop looking at it.

nicest thing this week

i've been the laziest person in the world lately. after my big assessment avalanche passed, all i wanted to do was sleep and eat and walk everywhere really slowly. it's been like this for about a week now. i'm a bit worried as to whether i'll ever do anything productive again. anyway, here is the nicest thing i've recieved in the post this week, my topshop playsuit! i've been wanting it for years and years. basically, i forgot that the uk has a separate ebay to the us (and even though the us site shows international items, it does not show all of them), which was just great because that was where all of these pretty playsuits happened to be. they sold out on topshop years ago, and i've wanted one ever since. anyway, i got it, and it's beautiful. it's a bit butt-revealing, but i'm okay with that. i will wear it every day if i can get away with it.

pin-up girls

the other day i bought this dress on ebay. the design was inspired by an image of a very cute girl holding a very cute dog, painted by a damn good pin-up artist named gil elvgren. the dress was designed by tatyana, whose cute clothes can be found here. i'm hoping it will look quite sweet and nice on my little frame. anyway, i thought i'd show you some other paintings by the same artist. to be fair, i had not heard of the man before yesterday, but i think i am now his biggest fan. his work is so damn fine. all of it. i wish girls still aspired to look like this.

my boyfriend's favourite

here is an outfit that i wore some time last week, but never told you about. i think i like the collar even better with this shirt! and i finally got to wear my american apparel circle skirt. i like it all very much (and so does my boyfriend).

the skirt is from american apparel, the shirt is from target and the collar is from ebay! i'm also wearing my finders keepers market bracelet.

how to design a chair

today we had a bit of a lazy day. we were supposed to adventure around the city, but ended up getting neat haircuts and browsing our local shopping center. this is what i wore. nothing exciting really, although a damn lot of people liked my skirt!

the shirt is from supré, the skirt is from ebay, the stockings are from david jones and the neck scarf is from a korean stall. a shiny black headband sat in my hair.

here is a nice little book that i bought. in it there are many glossy images of chairs and men with beards and round glasses. i think i will end up designing furniture, perhaps, so this should be very helpful.

tie front tops

here is my first tie front top, from asos. i think i would wear it every day if it weren't winter. the tie-up bits like to be a little difficult, though. when i find the money, i think i'll have to buy some more!

the top is from asos, and the skirt, again, is from ebay.

what i wore today

this is what i wore today. it came with me to the city to meet with my friend geraldine and do nice things.

the jacket is from topshop, the shirt is from supre, the belt is from an odd little store in the city and i found the skirt on ebay a while ago.

today i spent many hours scrolling through pages of 60's dresses on ebay, then decided to do some sewing.

i have a large pile of clothes desperately needing alteration, so i got to work.

this was my first victim. the skirt is way too big, and the pleats are unflatteringly low, so i had to move around zippers and alter hems and everything. unfortunately, i am not the world's finest sewer. i get so impatient that i end up making a lot of silly mistakes, then assure myself that i can cover it all up with a belt.

this was the very sad result. i decided that i preferred scrolling through pages of 60's dresses on ebay.

what was nice about all of this was that i got to sit at my very sweet little workstation, and look at these while i sewed.
