dream shoes

hello! i've been all over the place lately, which means i've been generally pathetic at blog posting. sometimes you just have to put down the camera and watch tv with your boyfriend for a few days. anyway, many exciting things have happened while i've been away. i've started making dresses with my previously neglected sewing machine. i found a brilliant 60's dress pattern, tried to figure out what all of the steps meant, and managed to make three successful dresses. i'll have to show you them soon!
today i will show you my super nice new shoes from asos. i'd been dying over them for months but my boyfriend thought they were too ridiculous to buy. eventually they were so heavily discounted that he let me have them. i generally don't wear heels because i'm already quite tall, so these will take a while to get used to. they're impossibly high, but also impossibly cute so it all works out just fine with me. if you're interested, you can find them here.

i've also bought an iphone recently, which is awfully exciting. although, i have to admit that my decision to buy it was largely influenced by instagram (you can find me by searching allthatisfine). naturally, i've already ordered a billion cute iphone cases on ebay, and found a bunch of cute cake-themed wallpapers to use on rotation.

somewhere beyond the sea

today my river island sailor playsuit arrived from asos (you can find it here). it's awfully cute, and i think i'll find myself wearing it quite a bit with my little red cardigan. you might also notice that i'm wearing my glasses today. i actually wear my glasses all day every day (because i need them to see), but i take them off for photos because it doesn't look terribly good. today i happened to forget, so there you go!

my little shop

my ebay account

hello again! i've been blogging a lot less regularly lately, i know. in all honesty, it's mostly due to good television shows and general laziness. perhaps i'm not cut out for the whole blogging routine. anyway, today i had a super productive day. i enrolled for all of my new uni subjects (i am now studying a different strand of design, as i was bored of the other), and finally got around to setting up my ebay account as a seller. if you're interested, the link is above. for now it's just going to be things that i've bought online (until i get around to taking pictures of everything else) that don't fit me amazingly well. this happens to be quite a lot of things, however i'm still reluctant to give some of the super nice ones away. hopefully you'll find something you love!

shiny new things

probably the best watch i have ever laid eyes on, from asos.

super nice 60's-style dress from asos, which conveniently matches my new watch.

annoyingly expensive all-white converse shoes. definitely worth the money, though. probably the best and most comfortable shoes i have ever owned.

bonjour!

hello! today i will show you how i made this semi-successful t-shirt. it's not quite done yet, but you get the idea. i was loosely basing the design off a mega-cute sweater from asos, which can be found here.

step 1:

i started by roughly copying the text from the sweater that i liked. i changed it a little, because i wanted it to be easier to read. plus, exclamation marks make everything a bit more fun. for some reason i did this on cardboard, which was a bit silly because i ended up having to trace it onto paper anyway.

step 2:

next i brought out my cute little light box and laid a white t-shirt ($7 at kmart) over my desired text. i had already made a small pencil marking on the shirt where i wanted the text to sit. from there, i just traced the text in pencil.

step 3:

when i had my pencil outline sorted, it was time to colour it in. because i'm awfully impatient, i decided to ditch the fabric paint and opt for a waterproof permanent marker. this was just so that i didn't make a huge mess, and it makes it all a damn lot easier. nonetheless, to do the text nicely you will have to set aside at least half an hour. the pen can be very stubborn.

step 4:

and there you have it! at this point the shirt was not entirely finished (because the 'j' still looked a bit funny and everything needed thickening and boldening), but you get the idea. i think it will look super nice with a red skirt and some black stockings. in the coming weeks i'll be tackling a bicycle print shirt, and maybe one with a big red love heart. it's awfully fun, i must say.

probably the best outfit

hello sweet people! university is still pressing down on me very very hard, so i am not too happy at all. luckily, i still have all of my favourite clothes to cheer me up. this outfit followed me to university the other day, and was just so simple and comfortable and nice that it couldn't help but make me a little happy.

the tie-front top is from asos and the skirt is from american apparel. i also wore my cute new pink mac from asos (which didn't match awfully well, but i didn't mind).

when asos has a sale

here is the reason why i am completely and utterly broke. it was like a billion nice things just appeared in front of me at once (and asos had a sale). i am very very very excited about all of them, especially that sweet floral playsuit that i've been dying over for as long as i can remember. in case you are wondering, here they are in order of appearance:

asos tennis skirt, storets transparent flare raincoat, asos sunglasses, topshop liberty floral rose playsuit, asos over-the-knee socks, american apparel turtleneck dress, asos summer mac, asos suede dress, asos floral print dress.

on their way

here are a few things that are on their way to me from various nice places around the world. quite an interesting assortment, i must say.

1. thigh-high sock garters from SWANclothing on etsy

2. the best striped skirt in the world from asos

3. a sweet detachable peter pan collar from a sweet ebay seller

4. a skirt i'm very excited about from american apparel. it's so nice in blue too!

ditsy prints

i found this cute tie-front top today at target, of all places. it did have sleeves at one point, but i thought they were very ugly so i snipped them right off. it's a damn lot cuter this way. i'm not big on floral prints, but this one was too sweet and cute to pass up, and you know how i love tie-front tops. it's like the innocent little sister of my asos denim version.

speaking of asos, my floral and purple polka-dot scarf arrived this morning! i was so damn happy when i saw it. it's this tiny delicate thing that you're almost too scared to touch in fear that it will turn to dust or fall to pieces or something awful. but no! it's just perfect, and it looks super sweet tied up in my hair.

a choice

today i had a very big decision to make. it was my mum's birthday dinner and i couldn't decide between two nice dresses! i am perhaps the worst decision-maker imaginable.

the dress is from asos, the tights are by voodoo, the bracelet is from the finders keepers market and with this i wore my jane debster shoes.

the dress is from zara, the fur capelet is from h&m, the stockings are by voodoo and my jane debster shoes also happened to match this outfit very nicely.

hours of contemplation later, the asos dress prevailed. i was glad to finally get a chance to wear it. i traded in my pseudo garter stockings for a nice green pair from korea at the last minute. it just seemed like the right thing to do...you know?

see you tomorrow! (and i am terribly sorry about my messy bedroom)

neck scarves

here are my very best neck scarves! they're so damn difficult to pick because they look crazy different when actually rolled up around your neck. most neck scarves are quite ugly, really, when you take a good look at them. i realise that they look quite unappealing in this picture, but i'm sure you can imagine that they look a whole lot cuter on. my favourite is the bright turquoise, i think. the third one down is covered in small men on horses, and i found it yesterday at the antiques store. you may also remember the spotted scarf from the suitcase rummage. the rest i have picked up at korean accessories stalls in the middle of shopping centers. soon i'll be the owner of a really sweet floral one that i found on asos. see you tomorrow!

tie front tops

here is my first tie front top, from asos. i think i would wear it every day if it weren't winter. the tie-up bits like to be a little difficult, though. when i find the money, i think i'll have to buy some more!

the top is from asos, and the skirt, again, is from ebay.

raincoat

i bought this raincoat (the nicest raincoat in the world) on asos about a month and a half ago. i don't think it's rained for a reasonable length of time since it arrived, so it is yet to leave the house. it's so damn cute, though! i think i should replace this mangled umbrella with something covered with hearts or spots or stripes for when the time finally comes.

50% off sales

today i was very happy, but also very sad. apparently the people behind topshop and asos think very much alike, because they both decided to have 50% off sales at the SAME TIME. i decided to be nice to my wallet and only buy a few things. these two things from asos, i am particularly excited about.

this is perhaps the cutest tie-up denim blouse imaginable. i think it will look brilliant with my american apparel shorts, but unfortunately i may have to keep it in hiding until summer, or at least a warmer winter day.

and then there is this amazing contraption. i was so fascinated by it that i just had to have it. my boyfriend thinks it's not terribly nice, but i think it would look so sweet with a little blue skirt and perhaps something white on top. you will see.
